Description: An executive travels to France to secure the acquisition of a renowned champagne brand before Christmas, but her plans are upended when she falls into a whirlwind romance with a charming Parisian – only to discover he’s the founder’s son.
Chemistry: I don’t know where these two came from but they’re great together. The ensemble was fun to watch and the secondary stories were engaging.
Plot: This was one of those holiday movies whose plot doesn’t depend on Christmas to survive. With a few tweaks, it could take place in July, and that’s exactly why it works. A solid story is a solid story. It also gives us a “one year later” segment, which my wife would argue is always the best part.
Design: Itβs France. Actual France. Enough said. Yes, the snow is fake, but itβs France.
Overall: This movie is fantastic. Whoever wrote the script should get all the awards for working legit com into rom-com. Otto the German steals entire scenes with deadpan lines like, βI still love Christmas. Itβs the one time I can sit by a dead tree eating candy out of my shoes without feeling judged.β I also loved that the French speakers in the movie spoke French and not English with an accent. I didn’t mind reading the subtitles because it gave it a more realistic feel. This movie is definitely in the running for the Santa face rating of the season.
Best Enjoyed With: Some macarons and a fire in the fireplace.
