Description: A big-city graphic designer returns home for the holidays to help her mother’s struggling bookstore, but as she reconnects with her roots and her faith, she finds herself questioning whether success is measured by career milestones – or by love, creativity, and the joy of truly belonging. Christmas On Every Page stars Rose Reid (A Thousand Tomorrows) and Jake Allyn (Someone Like You).
Chemistry: The two leads were fine enough. There wasn’t anything inherently terrible about their chemistry or acting. The supporting cast, however, was terrible. Their line delivery was stilted and had odd inflections from time to time.
Plot: Painfully standard. Nothing novel. The movie’s overall quality made it hard to stay invested. It lost me early and never earned me back.
Design: Oh boy. The locations were fine, but the Christmas dĂ©cor was rough. We’re talking a chronic case of “random red bow disease”—bows slapped on every available surface. And then there was the tree. A very distinct Christmas tree appeared in four different locations. You’ll know it when you see it—sparse top half, one lone sprig of gold sticking out of one side (You can make tree spotting a bit of a game if you’re desperate).
Overall: I kept hoping it would redeem itself. It did not. There was one legitimately solid scene in the middle, but the rest was forgettable enough that the single tree rating stands.
Best Enjoyed With: A different show on another TV so you don’t have to pay attention.
