Description: In “Deck the Hallways,” Zoe, played by Naika Toussaint, is a tech executive from the Bay Area who returns to her hometown in Chicago for the holidays. She discovers that her grandmother, Agnes (played by Loretta Devine), has canceled the beloved Christmas party that her late husband used to host. Missing the warmth and joy of her childhood traditions, Zoe teams up with her childhood crush, Jace (Jaime M. Callica), and their neighbors to revive the festive celebration. As they work together, they rediscover the magic of community and the spirit of Christmas, all while navigating the challenges of rekindling old flames and keeping traditions alive.
Overall: This one was surprisingly enjoyable. Loretta Devine usually annoys me, but I liked her character in this one. Her over-the-top acting worked for who she was supposed to be. The story got me choked up a couple of times. Add it to your list.
